• Alexander von Humboldt Professorship

  Worth up to five million euros, the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship is the most valuable research award in Germany. The award allows German research institutions to target the long-term recruitment of top-rank academics in specific fields who will propel them forward internationally.

• Anneliese Maier Research Award

  The Anneliese Maier Research Award is presented to world-class researchers from abroad from the fields of the humanities and social sciences whose academic achievements have been internationally recognised in their research area. The award winners independently choose the people with whom they would like to collaborate in Germany and the collaborative research projects last for up to five years.

• Max Planck Research Award

  The Max Planck Research Award, the international research award granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Max Planck Society, is conferred on excellent scientists and scholars of all nationalities who have already received international recognition and who are expected to continue producing outstanding academic results in international collaborations.

• Research Cooperation with developing countries

  The Humboldt Foundation supports developing and threshold countries in their endeavours to promote junior researchers and international networking as well as developing their own functioning science systems. For in a globalised world, a country’s prospects for growth, affluence and social harmony are inextricably bound up with scientific and technical progress.

• Sofja Kovalevskaja Award

  The award allows outstanding junior researchers to build up a working group
  at a research institution in Germany and to spend five years working there on their own research project.
