Nobel Prize in Physics goes to Humboldtian Pierre Agostini

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation congratulates Pierre Agostini on winning the Nobel Prize in Physics which he is receiving together with Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huillier. This makes Agostini the 60th researcher from the Humboldt family to be awarded a Nobel Prize. 

The French scientist is a professor emeritus at Ohio State University in the USA. In 2003, he was selected for a Humboldt Research Award, which he used to conduct attosecond experiments with colleagues at the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy (MBI) in Berlin. These fundamental experiments helped lead to the findings for which he is now being honoured. 

“We heartily congratulate Pierre Agostini as well as Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huillier on winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. With their groundbreaking work in the field of electron dynamics, these three have opened the door to the world of electrons.
